Prayers for Bobby

ZOMG, how did I not know that Bobby in "Prayers for Bobby" is Ryan from Smallville?!! Now I can see in my mind fanvid of a teenage Ryan arguing with his two gay dads about going on a date with his new boyfriend.

Beautiful People & Heroes

I'm just grinning with tears in my eyes - can the ending of Beautiful People be any better?! I'm speechless with such warmth in my heart, just like the first time I watched Beautiful Thing. I've got to recommend this to everyone who'd care to listen~!

And before that I'd just watched Heroes 3x08 - together with Beautiful People, they had just made my day. Can Nathan and Peter be closer together without merging into one person?

OMG, I'm just overcome with happiness right now~

Ass and Sex

I'm surprised to enjoy Coffee Prince so much (I know I'm late to the party). One thing that bugs me though is the media's continued ignroance about the sex difference in ass size. Women have more shapely asses than men - you learn that at health ed. (or whaterver they call it these days) at grade school. So why on earth have the male lead comment on the small ass the female lead (who he thinks is a man) has when the evidence on screen doesn't warrant that comment? And why did Sorority Boys have Michael Rosenbaum's character worry about his fat ass when MR had to put on prosthetics in that scene to make his ass even visible on screen?

Rant mode off. BTW, hope this post doesn't get filtered out because of the title...

Chuck

The problem with watching Chuck after Reaper and Wanted is the inevitable comparison. It doesn’t matter that Chuck doesn’t fight supernatural beings or isn’t an assassin following mysterious orders from above. The supermarket and/or underachieving common man beginning is too glaringly similar to ignore. And they all have an irreverent charm and require a higher than normal suspension of disbelief.

However, it’s also because of this that I like Reaper (and the Middleman) much more than Chuck, which in comparison seems to take itself too seriously. It doesn’t matter if the plots of the show have the soundness or intricacy to back it up or dazzle the audience. Its play of the spy genre tropes just seems neither here or there when compared with Reaper or the Middleman, and its characters lackluster and indistinct.

I’ve just finished 4 eps so far and it is entertaining enough to keep me watching but I wouldn’t care if it were cancelled or changed. Still, I cannot but wonder what this show could have been if there had been more self-conscious humour in it or if the characters had been that tiny bit more interesting (Just compare Sock and Morgan for a case in point.)

Matt Keeslar

After watching Urbania, I just can't get that sweet, angelic (albeit generic) pretty face out of my head when I watch him in The Middleman. I can't believe I didn't finish the film first time I watched it.

ETA. OMG he was that guy in Splendor?! How could I not notice?

The Lakes

Just finished the first series. The fast-forwarding of his life in episode 1 really jarred me a bit. There are many good bits in it but I don't know what to make of it yet because it doesn't seem to fit comfortably in traditional genres.
