Bittorrent Seeder Arrested

Another seeder was arrested for uploading. I'm so ashamed to be living in a place so monopolized by heartless capitalists that not one political party, politician or academic has been willing to stand up for us. Piracy has given us unprecedented computer literacy, made possible many cult/small fandoms, and given people access to movies or shows which would've been censored or died of obscurity. And frankly, the movies or shows which people wouldn't like to pay for after downloading wouldn't have attracted a paying audience in the first place. For one thing, I've bought more DVDs after I've got into the habit of downloading simply because I know of and have tasted more shows via this means.

Hong Kong International Film Festival

I'm watching 19 films at the HKIFF. So far, $9.99, Machan, and Antique are my favourites for this year and only 4 films really put me to sleep and I'd had doubt about them before buying the tickets so I guess my judgment is not so bad this year~

Full list behind cut )

Still 6 films to go, I have high hopes that the 2 Indian films Chandni Chowk to China and Ghajini will be entertaining, and the rest... I don't know, I'll just wait and see. After all, I don't remember what they're about anyway.

In between waiting for the next screenings, I finished translating a couple of short fics at the Starbucks. Now I'll just have to wait for the permissions so that I can post them. Fingers crossed they'll come soon.

Biodegradble bags are biodegradable

I've just found out that biodegradble bags are biodegradable - the hard way. When I went to check whether I've bought a manga twice, I found that some of the plastic bags I used to store my manga and my Snape costume by the window had disintegrated. Flakes of plastic fell down to my bed when I tried to clean up the mess. I guess this just isn't my day, but at least now I've seen firsthand what a bag in the process of degradation looks llike.
